St Ann’s Hospice aims to improve the quality of life of people living with life-threatening illnesses in Greater Manchester, while supporting their families and carers. The care provided is tailored to the needs of the individual in the most appropriate way and includes:
As an independent local charity, all care is provided free of charge by St Ann’s Hospice to over 3,000 people each year across three sites and in people’s own homes. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone who goes into a hospice dies in a hospice: 42% of Inpatients at St Ann’s Hospice return home after treatment.
In total, St Ann’s Hospice needs over £8.75 million every year to offer its wide range of services, of which only 35% is received from government funding. The remaining £5.8 million must be raised by the Hospice every year.

Christie's is the charity which raises funds for the Christie Hospital - the largest single-site cancer treatment centre in Europe.
We provide:
But we want to do better. Our vision is a future without cancer and we aim to provide ever more effective treatments for our patients so their chances of surviving cancer are greatly increased.
To do this we need money. We need money to buy equipment and pay for the expertise that is crucial to making advances in treating cancer. Every advance we make buys someone more time.

Henshaws Society for Blind People was founded on a legacy from Manchester businessman, Thomas Henshaw – a far-sighted man who, whilst alive, perceived the positive and lasting impact of his will on future generations. Thomas Henshaw’s legacy of £20,000 left in 1837 (just under £1 million in today’s money) laid the foundations for the North’s leading charity for blind people.
Today, Henshaws are more reliant than ever on the heartfelt generosity of local people who choose to leave a gift to the charity in their will. A legacy will enable us to continue providing our wide range of essential services, including Children and Family Services, Henshaws College, Community Housing, Adult Training and services for older people experiencing sight loss. We support over 2,000 blind and visually impaired people in Manchester alone.
